Job summary

Aterra Real Estate in West Des Moines, IA is hiring an Experienced Maintenance Technician. This hands-on role supports our residential and commercial properties, ensuring safety, functionality, and curb appeal for tenants and residents.

You will conduct routine maintenance, minor repairs, and upkeep across multiple sites, with some on-call and weekend hours. Bi-lingual abilities are a plus and a continued training mindset is encouraged.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in building/property maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a do-it-right-the-first-time mindset.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Great communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform common area maintenance (lighting, ceiling tiles, janitorial duties).
• Handle minor drywall repair, painting, and touch-ups.
• Assist with carpentry, basic plumbing, and electrical tasks.
• Support HVAC diagnostics and basic repairs.
• Maintain exterior areas: landscaping, mowing, trash collection.
• Assist with security of leased spaces and locksmith coordination.
