Job summary

Michael Page US is seeking a Superintendent in Ohio to lead day-to-day construction activities for landmark projects. You will manage schedules, coordinate multiple trades, and ensure safety, quality, and budget adherence on large-scale builds.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of construction experience, CPM scheduling knowledge, and leadership capabilities to mentor field teams and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

  • At least 5+ years of building construction experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials.
  • Understanding of line and grade and survey methods.
  • Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Experience reading CPM schedules and coordinating multiple trades.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with owners/architects/engineers for day-to-day construction activities.
  • Develop and implement overall project work schedules identifying the critical path and expedite materials/equipment.
  • Review subcontractor schedule impacts and productivity-related claims.
  • Manage performance related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and staffing.
  • Document field issues impacting budget, quality or schedule and prepare RFIs.
  • Oversee work among all trades to coordinate project operation and resolve issues.
  • Ensure permits and insurance are in place and current for the project term.
  • Assist in General Conditions to maintain the budget.
  • Ensure work conforms to the approved contract documents.

Job Description
The Superintendent will be responsible for:
  • Primary liaison with owners/architects/engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
  • Develop and implement overall project work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site.
  • Review, respond, and resolve subcontractor schedule impacts and or claims of productivity impacts.
  • Manage and make decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
  • Document project field issues that impact budget, quality or schedule and prepare RFIs to clarify questions on the building plans and details when necessary.
  • Oversee work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolve local area problems, regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and insurance are in place and kept current for the term of the project.
  • Assist in the General Conditions for the project to maintain the budget.
  • Manage the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.

The Successful Applicant
The Superintendent will have:
  • At least 5+ years of building construction experience required
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of line and grade and survey methods.
  • Previous Residential or Multifamily experience Podium Style is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures. Computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs. Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Completed OSHA 30 hour training course.
  • Strong ability to develop employees by providing stretch assignments with the right blend of support.
  • Inside and outside work in all types of weather (heat, snow, rain, cold, etc.)
  • Occasionally lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading field operations on ground-up or large-scale projects
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling and sequencing, including the ability to read and manage CPM schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple trades and maintain workflow efficiency on active jobsites
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail with a focus on delivering quality workmanship
  • Strong knowledge of jobsite safety practices and a commitment to maintaining a zero-incident culture
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents and field personnel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt to changing project conditions and proactively address challenges
  • Commitment to maintaining accurate jobsite documentation, including daily logs and reports
