Job summary

MPI is seeking a highly experienced Superintendent in Ohio to lead field operations on large-scale construction projects. You will coordinate with owners, architects, and engineers, manage schedules, materials, and crews, and protect budget and safety goals on every site.

The successful candidate will bring 5+ years in building construction, strong CPM scheduling knowledge, OSHA 30 certification, and proven ability to mentor field personnel. Residential or multifamily exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• At least 5+ years of building construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of general/subcontract documents, drawings and specs.
• Ability to read and manage CPM schedules.
• Experience leading field operations on large-scale projects.
• OSHA 30-hour training completed.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary liaison with owners, architects, and engineers for daily construction activities.
• Develop and implement project work schedules identifying critical path and expediting materials/equipment.
• Review and resolve subcontractor schedule impacts and productivity claims.
• Manage performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality, and staffing.
• Document field issues affecting budget, quality, or schedule and prepare RFIs.
• Ensure permits and insurance are in place and current for the project term.
• Assist in General Conditions to maintain project budget.
• Lead and mentor Assistant Superintendents and field personnel.

Job Description

The Superintendent will be responsible for:

• Primary liaison with owners/architects/engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
• Develop and implement overall project work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site.
• Review, respond, and resolve subcontractor schedule impacts and or claims of productivity impacts.
• Manage and make decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
• Document project field issues that impact budget, quality or schedule and prepare RFIs to clarify questions on the building plans and details when necessary.
• Oversee work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolve local area problems, regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
• Ensure all necessary permits and insurance are in place and kept current for the term of the project.
• Assist in the General Conditions for the project to maintain the budget.
• Manage the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.

The Successful Applicant

The Superintendent will have:

• At least 5+ years of building construction experience required
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of line and grade and survey methods.
• Previous Residential or Multifamily experience Podium Style is a plus but not required
• Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures. Computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs. Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
• Completed OSHA 30 hour training course.
• Strong ability to develop employees by providing stretch assignments with the right blend of support.
• Inside and outside work in all types of weather (heat, snow, rain, cold, etc.)
• Occasionally lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
• Proven track record of successfully leading field operations on ground-up or large-scale projects
• Strong understanding of project scheduling and sequencing, including the ability to read and manage CPM schedules
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple trades and maintain workflow efficiency on active jobsites
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
• High attention to detail with a focus on delivering quality workmanship
• Strong knowledge of jobsite safety practices and a commitment to maintaining a zero-incident culture
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
• Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
• Effective leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents and field personnel
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Ability to adapt to changing project conditions and proactively address challenges
• Commitment to maintaining accurate jobsite documentation, including daily logs and reports
