Job summary

Birge & Held is seeking a Service Technician II to maintain and improve the appearance and functionality of our Fort Wayne multifamily communities. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to service requests, and coordinate with the Operations Manager to deliver a positive resident experience.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of apartment maintenance experience; EPA refrigerant handling certification or willingness to obtain it; and a valid driver’s license for property travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of apartment maintenance experience.
• EPA certification for refrigerant handling, or willingness to obtain.
• HVAC certification, preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between properties.
• Able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
• Strong oral communication and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Compliance with company policies and applicable laws (Fair Housing, ADA, FCRA).
• Inspect buildings and common areas for cleanliness and safety; perform repairs.
• Complete and manage work orders promptly; update progress daily.
• Oversee grounds and site maintenance across the portfolio.
• Complete administrative forms, reports, and documentation timely.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
