Job summary

HMSHost is seeking a General Manager I to oversee a QSR restaurant or small cluster, accountable for cleanliness, staffing, and opening/closing operations with a focus on financial performance. The role demands strong leadership and a commitment to brand standards, guest experience, and operational excellence.

This on-site position requires 5–7+ years of leadership in related settings and 3+ years of direct P&L ownership.

Qualifications

5–7+ years of progressive restaurant leadership experience in QSR, casual dining, full-service, or similarly complex environments.
3+ years of direct P&L ownership with a proven track record of delivering strong operational and financial results.
Expertise in staffing, labor planning, scheduling, recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
Solid financial acumen with the ability to interpret operational and financial metrics to drive results.
Experience maintaining brand standards, managing audits, and leading operational improvements.

Responsibilities

Own restaurant P&L performance, driving sales, profitability, labor efficiency, and cost controls.
Lead day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring excellence in guest experience, staffing, and brand execution.
Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with company standards.
Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, develop, and retain managers and associates.
Create schedules, deploy resources effectively, and ensure all shifts are appropriately staffed.
Foster a diverse, inclusive, and engagement-focused workplace culture through recognition, coaching, and accountability.
Analyze financial and operational reports to monitor performance and achieve business objectives.
Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, vendor relationships, invoice processing, and product availability.
Drive operational excellence through effective labor management, waste reduction, equipment maintenance, and cost controls.
Leverage systems such as Kronos, CrunchTime, MIV, and other operational tools to support data-driven decision making.
Execute company promotions, brand initiatives, and local marketing programs to increase sales and revenue.
Resolve guest and employee concerns professionally while building a positive team environment.
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health and safety regulations, labor requirements, and company policies.
Lead audits and maintain operational readiness while upholding brand standards and quality expectations.
