Job summary

Spencer Fane LLP is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support high-volume, multi-state payroll processing and related administration. You will maintain employee records, assist with benefits and deductions, and provide backup for complex pay groups while ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The role involves coordinating with Finance, HR, Benefits, and external providers to resolve issues and maintain payroll integrity. Strong UKG Pro experience and advanced Excel skills are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in business or accounting preferred.
• 5+ years of high-volume payroll processing across multiple pay groups.
• Experience with multi-state payroll, including California, and wage-hour rules.
• Strong knowledge of UKG Pro and UKG WFM; advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of benefits, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, and variable compensation processing.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions and deductions across multiple states.
• Review and reconcile payroll data; respond to discrepancies.
• Prepare reports and support benefits, open enrollment, and compliance.
• Provide backup for complex pay groups and assist with year-end tasks.
• Maintain employee records in UKG Pro and coordinate with HR and finance.
