Job summary

Freight Handlers in Cheshire, CT seeks an Area Operations Manager to lead operations across multiple locations, including North Haven, CT. You will coach Site Managers, ensure safety, productivity, and customer service while aligning with regional goals.

The role requires coordinating staffing, safety, and quality initiatives, driving performance, and developing leaders to meet strategic targets across sites. Occasional travel between sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Site Manager or equivalent leadership role.
• Experience managing operational performance, safety, staffing, and customer relationships in warehouse/logistics.
• Multi-site leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct leadership, coaching, and accountability to Site Managers at multi-location sites.
• Travel regularly between locations to maintain leadership visibility and execution.
• Partner with Site Managers to achieve safety, staffing, quality, productivity, and financial goals.
• Conduct site visits, operational reviews, safety inspections, and business assessments.
• Review operational KPIs with Site Managers and develop action plans for gaps.
• Communicate with customer leadership and escalate operational concerns as needed.
• Support Site Managers with hiring, development, promotions, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws; promote a strong safety culture.
• Collaborate with Regional Operations Manager and other teams on initiatives and improvements.
• Assist budgeting, labor management, payroll oversight, and financial performance monitoring.
