Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under supervision of a physician/provider and/or a registered nurse. Duties include venipuncture, vaccine administration, vital signs, and assisting with patient exams and clerical support.

The position may float to other sites within the system. You will support the care team by preparing patients, educating patients, and maintaining accurate EMR

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year 6 months experience in ambulatory care required; externship preferred.
• For Cardiology offices: 6 months experience or related degree or cardiac technician training.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) within 1 year required.
• CPR for healthcare providers within 90 days required; BLS/NRP training.
• Prior MA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient exams and procedures.
• Perform venipuncture, vaccine administration, and vital signs.
• Provide clerical support and telephone screening.
• Maintain EMR documentation and logs.
• Support patient flow and care coordination.
