Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under supervision. Duties include venipuncture, assisting with exams, measuring vital signs, and patient education while supporting the clinical care team.

You may float to other sites within the system; strong customer service, basic computer skills, and compliance with safety standards are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year of ambulatory care experience required; externship strongly preferred.
• Cardiology office experience may be preferred for specific sites.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies and quality standards.
• Assists providers with patient preparation, exams, and education, ensuring orderly patient flow.
• Screens patients for preventative care needs and facilitates referrals and care transitions.
• Documents activities accurately in EMR and follows up on tests and procedures.
• Floats to other sites within the system as needed and participates in safety and infection control practices.
