Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center seeks a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under supervision. The role includes venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, patient exams, and clerical support.

You will assist care teams, support patient flow, and participate in team huddles while documenting activities in the EMR and coordinating with providers. On-site coverage across locations may occur.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year of ambulatory care experience required; externship preferred.
• CMA-AAMA or RMA certification within 1 year required.
• CPR certification within 90 days required.
• Knowledge of EMR and patient data documentation.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical and administrative duties under physician/provider and RN supervision.
• Assists with venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, and patient exams.
• Documents activities in the EMR and coordinates with the care team.
• Floats to other sites within the system as needed.
• Participates in team huddles and performance improvement activities.
• Provides telephone screening and patient education.
