Job summary

MedStar Health Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in ambulatory care under supervision. You will assist with exams, venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, and EMR documentation while supporting a high-functioning care team.

The role includes patient education, coordination of referrals, and coverage across multiple sites within the MedStar system. Strong customer service and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year experience in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent required; externship strongly preferred.
• Cardiology offices: 6 months experience or related degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations and prep; support clinical care team and patient flow.
• Perform venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, vital signs, and basic labs per scope.
• Provide clerical support, follow up on referrals, and manage EMR documentation.
• Screen patients for preventative care needs and coordinate with care teams for transitions and follow-up tasks.
• Float to other sites within the system as needed and participate in safety and quality initiatives.
