Job summary

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for providing technical support, with the Zone Building Engineer, for installation, inspection, and repair of major mechanical equipment across assigned properties in the Bigos Management portfolio. He/she supports a employee-first culture and upholds core values of relationships, development, quality and responsibility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; degree or certification in Engineering/maintenance preferred
• Minimum of 5+ years in apartment maintenance, facility management or related field
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and pool operations
• Special Class Boilers License with ability to upgrade
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required
• Certified Pool Operators License required
• Basic computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Understanding of federal fair housing laws and local housing provisions

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair building systems and major equipment ( boilers, A/C ) within the assigned zone
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure efficient operation and minimize downtime
• Receive and complete emergency work orders for heating, cooling, plumbing, appliances, and refrigeration
• Coordinate standby/on-call coverage for the portfolio
• Provide backup support for other Maintenance Technicians in the region
• Assist Zone Building Engineer with technical training for site staff
• Be on standby for emergency calls as needed
• Other duties as assigned
