Job summary

Central Gulf Industrial Alliance is seeking skilled welders capable of certifying on multi-process pipe and proficient in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW. They lay out, align and weld fabricated components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks and pipe according to blueprints and metallurgy.

The role requires reading specifications, selecting materials and welding procedures, and performing quality welds in various positions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior welding experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Must pass safety and performance tests per employer standards.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials according to specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry and weld techniques.
• May use SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, or GMAW welding processes.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components for welding.
• Welds metal components in various positions and tacks assemblies as needed.
• Connects welding unit settings (amperage, voltage, pulse) as per procedure.
• Starts power supply and strikes arc to deposit metal.
• Judges weld quality by bead size, fusion and appearance.
• Performs basic cleanup and prep of weld joints.
