Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a skilled welder to certify on multi-process pipe, proficient in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW. The role may require x-ray quality work and involves laying out, aligning and welding fabricated components to assemble structural forms per blueprints and metallurgy.

Responsibilities include selecting pipes and materials, planning layouts and welding techniques, and performing welds in various positions while ensuring safety and quality standards on projects such as

Qualifications

• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Apply basic mathematics to solve problems.
• Read blueprints and plans to lay out welds.
• Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or materials per specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of metal properties and welding techniques.
• May use SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, or SMAW welding processes.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components.
• Welds metal components using arc welding equipment in various positions.
• Connects welding unit to control current, voltage, and pulse.
• Operates tools to prepare and finish weld joints.
• Preheats pieces and cuts metal as needed.
• Ensures welds meet bead size and specifications.
• Loads, transports and unloads materials and tools.
• May assist in lifting and securing work pieces during installation.
• Performs routine maintenance and safety checks.
