Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks associated with the operation of MRI and other imaging modalities in an outpatient setting to assist the radiologist in the detection of anatomical abnormalities, or with general and peripheral vascular ultrasound, Echo, or sonography modalities. The technologist is primarily responsible for daily operations of the outpatient MRI section, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). Maintains high medical ethics standards and seeks to increase knowledge of the field, diseases, and new procedures.

MRI/CT Tech Combination:

  • Provides excellent patient care using innovative customer service techniques.
  • Acts professionally with internal and external customers to promote a positive patient experience.
  • Performs all tasks associated with MRI/CT Tech and CT Tech roles.
  • Screens patients for MR safety prior to procedures.
  • Administers contrast media as directed and per protocol.
  • Evaluates imaging studies for quality, processes images, and labels appropriately.
  • Participates in patient care exams, handling routine, urgent, and emergent requests.
  • Verifies physician orders and procedure indications.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and families, providing reassurance and information.
  • Maintains communication with staff and radiologists for effective workflow.
  • Completes image processing, PACS QA, and documentation of logs and demographic info.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree (preferred)
  • Registration by ARRT (R, CT, MR, N, M); must obtain ARRT (CT) within 9 months if applicable
  • State of Texas MRT certification; must be current
  • BLS certification
