Position Summary

Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks associated with the operation of MRI and other imaging modalities in an outpatient setting to assist the radiologist in the detection of anatomical abnormalities or with general and peripheral vascular ultrasound, Echo, or sonography modalities. The technologist is primarily responsible for daily operations of the outpatient MRI section, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). Maintains high ethical standards and is self-motivated to enhance understanding of the field, diseases, and evolving procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Utilize customer service techniques to provide a positive patient care experience.
  2. Act professionally with all internal and external customers to promote a patient-focused environment.
  3. Perform all tasks related to MRI/CT Tech and CT Tech responsibilities.
  4. Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedures.
  5. Administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.
  6. Evaluate imaging studies for technical quality, process images, and label appropriately.
  7. Participate in patient care exams, including routine, urgent, and emergent requests.
  8. Review physician orders for consistency with requested diagnostic exams.
  9. Communicate effectively with patients and families about procedures.
  10. Maintain communication with staff and radiologists for effective workflow.
  11. Complete image processing, PACS QA, and documentation for records.
  12. Perform all image post-processing.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate’s degree (preferred)
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in relevant certifications (R, CT, MR, N, M); must obtain ARRT (CT) within 9 months if applicable.
  • Certified by the State of Texas – MRT; maintain current certification.
  • BLS certification.
