Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks associated with the operation of MRI and other imaging modalities in an outpatient setting to assist the radiologist in the detection of anatomical abnormalities. Also involved with general and peripheral vascular ultrasound, Echo, or sonography modalities, supporting the radiologist in diagnosis. The technologist is primarily responsible for daily operations of the outpatient MRI section, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). Maintains high standards of medical ethics and is self-motivated to enhance understanding and knowledge of the field, diseases, and evolving procedures.

MRI/CT Tech Combination:

  • Provides excellent patient care using innovative customer service techniques.
  • Acts professionally with internal and external customers to promote a positive patient experience.
  • Performs all duties related to MRI/CT Tech responsibilities.
  • Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedures.
  • Administers contrast media as directed and per protocol.
  • Evaluates imaging studies for quality, processes images, and labels appropriately.
  • Participates actively in patient care exams, including routine, urgent, and emergent requests.
  • Reviews physician orders to verify exam types and indications.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and families about procedures to ensure understanding and reassurance.
  • Maintains communication with staff and radiologists for effective workflow.
  • Completes image processing, PACs QA, and documentation for departmental and hospital records.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree (preferred)
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, or Mammography. ARRT (CT) certification must be obtained within 9 months of hire/transfer.
  • Certified by the State of Texas – MRT; must be maintained as current.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
