Job summary

Sun Communities in Michigan seeks a Corporate Accountant to prepare, review, and reconcile financial information for multiple entities, ensuring the general ledger reflects operations for each business unit. The role includes adjusting journal entries, consolidation support, and budget analysis.

The successful candidate will analyze balance sheets, prepare work papers for audits, and assist with annual operating budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field.
• 3 years of accounting experience required.
• 6 months in multi-entity organizational structure preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced bookkeeping principles and practices.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to use email and internet.

Responsibilities

• Reviews financial statements to verify accuracy and prepares adjusting journal entries for each business unit.
• Assists management with issues related to monthly financial results and analyzes variances (Actual vs Budget).
• Analyzes and reconciles balance sheet accounts (cash, prepaid expenses, accrued receivables/payables) and prepares entries.
• Prepares work papers for quarterly reviews and annual audits as assigned.
• Performs complex, multi-entity tasks involving research and reconciliation of accounting data.
• Performs additional complex, multi-entity accounting tasks as needed.
• Assists with maintenance of the corporate general ledger and consolidation of financial statements.
• Prepares accounting details and supporting documents for auditors (internal/external).
• Assists with annual operating budgets as needed.
• Prepares various weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Other duties as assigned.
