Job summary

GPI is seeking Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and Structural Building Systems Engineering Interns for its Rockville, Olney, MD, and Fairfax, VA offices. Interns will engage in engineering analysis, design development, drafting, field investigations, and reports, collaborating with experienced engineers on diverse building projects.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills and coursework in building systems engineering, with familiarity in AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM software

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM software preferred.
• Ability to work in an office and participate in site visits to gain practical engineering experience.
• Interest in MEP or structural design.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or structural engineering analysis and design.
• Support the preparation of calculations, plans, specifications, and reports.
• Develop drawings/models using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM/CADD software.
• Assist with load calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts.
• Participate in field investigations, site assessments, and construction observations.
• Review drawings under supervision of senior engineers.
• Support design deliverables for review by licensed engineers.
• Perform tasks in line with project schedules and budgets.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on building design projects.
• Assist with report writing, documentation, and project coordination.
