Job summary

Growth Operators is seeking a payroll professional to manage end-to-end payroll for multiple clients. You will work on advisory and outsourced projects, handling multi-state payroll, audits, tax compliance, and reconciliations with a strong focus on accuracy and client service.

The role requires hands-on payroll experience, proficiency with major HRIS/payroll systems, Excel prowess, and the ability to collaborate with clients and internal teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, HR or business, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience, including multi-state payroll.
• Strong working knowledge of payroll tax, wage and hour laws, and payroll accounting.
• Experience with payroll, HRIS and time-keeping systems (ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, UKG, Paychex, etc.).
• High proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations).
• Ability to use independent judgment to manage priorities and payroll deadlines for multiple clients.
• Critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll for multiple clients across weekly, biweekly and semi-monthly cycles.
• Enter and audit payroll changes such as hires, terminations, pay rate changes, deductions, garnishments, bonuses, commissions and PTO accruals.
• Perform pre- and post-payroll audits and reconcile payroll registers; support GL reconciliation and payroll journal entries.
• Manage payroll tax compliance, including withholding, multi-state setups, filings, W-2s and notices.
• Reconcile benefit and retirement plan deductions and remittances with carriers and providers.
• Serve as primary contact for employees and managers with payroll questions and requests.
• Ensure compliance with wage and hour requirements, MN Paid Leave and related laws.
• Prepare payroll reporting and analysis for leadership, auditors and Finance teams.
• Support payroll system implementations, year-end close, process improvements and internal controls.
• Document payroll procedures and build repeatable processes for clients.
