Job summary

TAS is hiring a Buyer I to support procurement for engineered-to-order modular solutions in a Houston HQ. You will manage supplier relations, source commodities, and ensure ERP/MRP driven processes align with project schedules.

The role emphasizes communication, organization, and adherence to standard work. Bachelor’s degree is preferred, with CPIM a plus and exposure to Infor/LN a benefit.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of purchasing/expediting in a custom engineered manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of ERP/MRP driven manufacturing practices.
• APICS CPIM certification preferred.
• Experience in MRO purchasing, electrical commodities and labor/services preferred.
• Contract review and interpretation skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain frequent communication with suppliers from order placement to receipt to ensure quality and schedules are met.
• Develop and monitor supplier recovery plans for quality issues or schedule delays.
• Communicate risks and changes of supplier orders to TAS personnel.
• Solicit and review supplier quotations.
• Support the prequalification process for potential suppliers.
• Reconcile BOMs to planned orders and issued POs with Configuration Management and Purchasing.
• Maintain Supplier PO promise dates and receipt of materials in the ERP system.
• Advise senior management of non-standard contractual issues which can create legal and business risk.
• Maintain and report metrics on supplier performance and other objectives.
• Maintain good relations with supplier personnel.
• Expedite orders and resolve receiving discrepancies as needed.
