Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines and propulsion solutions, seeks a Lead Engineer to drive MRL for Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) and transition advanced technologies from R&D to production.

You will lead cross-functional teams across design, process, operations, quality, and supply chain, shaping robust manufacturing processes and readiness milestones for high-performance aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required from ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years aerospace manufacturing engineering experience, or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
• U.S. citizenship required to access program information.

Responsibilities

• Lead MRL planning, assessment, and execution from concept through full-rate production.
• Coordinate CMC SMEs to ensure consistent technical alignment across internal teams and external partners.
• Collaborate with design, process, operations, quality, and supply chain to develop robust, scalable manufacturing processes for CMC components.
• Identify manufacturing maturity gaps and develop actionable plans to achieve target readiness levels.
• Drive continuous improvement in yield, process capability, robustness, and cost efficiency while ensuring compliance with requirements.
• Lead manufacturing risk identification, mitigation, and closure for process, equipment, material, and supplier readiness.
• Develop and validate process flows, PFMEAs, control plans, and production documentation for transition to production.
• Support DFM by providing manufacturing input to product engineering teams.
• Oversee prototype builds, pilot runs, and manufacturing trials to collect data and confirm readiness milestones.
• Collaborate with suppliers to assess maturity, process controls, and adherence to CMC standards.
• Support supplier qualification, audits, corrective actions, and long-term supplier development for CMC material and component production.
• Ensure all CMC processes comply with industry standards and internal quality systems.
• Prepare and present readiness dashboards, status reports, and risk updates to leadership.
• Mentor engineers on MRL frameworks and advanced materials technologies.
