Job summary

RTX in Carlsbad, California seeks a Lead Engineer to drive Manufacturing Readiness Levels for Ceramic Matrix Composites, moving advanced technologies from R&D to production. You will lead readiness planning, collaborate with design, process, and quality teams, and manage risks to ensure robust, scalable manufacturing progress.

The role requires mentoring engineers, sustaining process control, and delivering readiness milestones for high-performance aerospace components on an onsite basis.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor-level degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years in aerospace manufacturing engineering or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
• Experience planning and executing MRL advancement from R&D to production.
• Familiarity with quality systems, process control methods and root cause analysis tools.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead MRL planning, assessment and execution for CMC technologies from concept to full-rate production.
• Coordinate SMEs to ensure technical alignment across teams and partners.
• Develop scalable manufacturing processes for CMC components with design and operations teams.
• Identify gaps and create plans to reach target readiness levels.
• Improve yield, process capability and cost efficiency while meeting specs.
• Lead risk identification, mitigation, and closure for manufacturing.
