Job summary

Boys Town is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform scans and ensure patient safety and optimal image quality. You will verify patient information, position patients, and operate the MRI with attention to protocols and contrast administration when indicated.

The role requires ARRT MRI and Radiography certification within 90 days, CPR, and a patient-centered approach in a fast-paced radiology department. This position offers on-site work in Omaha, NE with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program in the U.S.
• ARRT certification in Radiography and MRI within 90 days of hire
• CPR certification required; BLS if Cognitive Neuroscience dept.

Responsibilities

• Operates MRI scanner following safety procedures and patient screening.
• Verifies patient, site, positioning, protocols and scan parameters for each scan.
• Places and instructs patients, using immobilization and protective devices.
• Administers contrast media when indicated and educates about risks and post-procedure care.
• Transfers images to PACS and ensures proper labeling and routing to radiologist.

Business: Boys Town National Research HospitalJob Summary:In a career as an MRI Technologist, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will complete a variety of tasks involved in the performance of MRI scans.Schedule: On-CallLocations: West HospitalMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Performs complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of the MRI scanner in accordance with prescribed MRI safety procedures, including all patient screening procedures.Assures that for all scans correct patient, imaging site, patient positioning, correct protocols and scan parameters are verified.Positions and instructs patients for MRI scans using immobilization, support, and protective devices.Administers contrast media, if indicated; screens and educates patients regarding contrast media, possible reactions, and post procedure contrast instructions; implements emergency procedures in response to contrast media reactions.Able to successfully send images to PACS and demonstrate basic knowledge of PACS software.Evaluates MRI scans for technical quality, collates processed images, in sequence of exposure, and appropriately labels.Routes images and appropriate history electronically to the interpreting radiologist.Ensures correct charging of procedures and supplies.Participates in department performance improvement and survey readiness activities.Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Radiology service standards.Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of an AMA approved, accredited School of Radiologic Technology or an Education in Radiologic Technology from an approved program in the U.S. Military required.ARRT in Radiography and MRI within 90-days of transfer or hire required.CPR Certified required.If employed in the Cognitive Neuroscience department, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of transfer or hire required.If employed in the Cognitive Neuroscience department, Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.Care and respect for others is more than a commitment at Boys Town – it is the foundation of who we are and what we do.At Boys Town, we cultivate a culture of belonging for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views, and experiences.
