Job summary

Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, NE seeks a CT & MRI Technologist to perform CT and MRI scans, ensure patient safety, and verify correct protocols. The role requires AMA approved radiologic technology education, ARRT certification, and CPR.

You will operate scanners, prepare patients, administer contrast when indicated, send images to PACS, and participate in quality improvement. Full-time, 8- or 10-hour shifts with rotating call and holidays; on-site at West Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA approved radiologic technology program or equivalent
  • ARRT certification in Radiography and MRI within 90 days
  • Minimum two years of experience
  • CPR certification required

Responsibilities

  • Operate CT and MRI scanners following safety procedures.
  • Confirm patient, site, positioning, and protocol accuracy before scans.
  • Position patients using immobilization and protective devices.
  • Administer and educate about contrast media; manage reactions.
  • Send images to PACS and verify basic PACS knowledge.
  • Evaluate image quality and label studies correctly.
  • Coordinate with radiologists and ensure proper charging.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorizations for CT and MRI.
  • Support department quality improvement activities.

Job Summary: In a career as a CT & MRI Technologist, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks involved in the taking of CT and MRI scans.

Schedule: Full-Time, 8 hour days or 10 hours days, with rotating call covering x-ray and OR and rotating holidays.

Locations: West Hospital

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Performs complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of the CT and MRI scanner in accordance with prescribed radiation/ MRI safety procedures, including all patient screening procedures.
  • Assures that for all scans correct patient, imaging site, patient positioning, correct protocols and scan parameters are verified.
  • Positions and instructs patients for CT and MRI scans using immobilization, support, and protective devices.
  • Administers contrast media, if indicated; screens and educates patients regarding contrast media, possible reactions, and post procedure contrast instructions; implements emergency procedures in response to contrast media reactions.
  • Able to successfully send images to PACS and demonstrate basic knowledge of PACS software.
  • Evaluates CT and MRI scans for technical quality, collates processed images, in sequence of exposure, and appropriately labels.
  • Routes images and appropriate history electronically to the interpreting radiologist.
  • Ensures correct charging of procedures and supplies.
  • Participates in department performance improvement and survey readiness activities.
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Radiology service standards.
  • Obtains insurance prior authorizations for CT and MRI studies
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an AMA approved, accredited School of Radiologic Technology or an Education in Radiologic Technology from an approved program in the U.S. Military required.
  • ARRT in Radiography and MRI within 90-days of transfer or hire required.
  • Minimum of two years' experience required.
  • CPR certification required.
