Job summary

Allina Health seeks a Technical Coordinator for MRI who will lead in imaging procedures and mentor staff. The role involves coordinating MRI protocols with radiologists, training new staff, and upholding safety and quality standards across the department.

You will work with leadership to ensure accurate imaging, proper documentation, and efficient operations, including equipment selection, inventory control, and onboarding of new hires.

Qualifications

  • Requires vocational or technical training in Radiologic Technology.
  • 3+ years experience as MRI technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Completes procedures in compliance with physician orders and department guidelines.
  • Performs procedures with high accuracy and maintains knowledge of diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintains documentation and ensures imaging transfers to storage/retrieval system.
  • Coordinates MRI imaging protocols with radiologist and participates in equipment selection and inventory management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

  • Medium Work*:

Provides technical leadership in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), including staff orientation, education and continuous quality improvement, serving as site lead for accreditation and regulatory compliance. Works with Medical Director of MRI, supervisor and staff to develop and maintain a safe operation. Performs high-quality MRI imaging and assists with procedures under the direction of the radiologist following department policies.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Completes procedures in compliance with physician orders and department guidelines including
    • Identifies patient with two identifiers.
    • Documents accurately all needed aspects of the procedure.
    • Observes and communicates with patient, responding to needs.
    • Maintains safe patient environment in procedure area.
  • Performs procedures with high degree of accuracy
    • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of all diagnostic equipment.
    • Maintains work knowledge and competence.
    • Gathers all relevant information to assist in interpretation of images.
    • Verifies all imaging has appropriately transferred to imaging storage and retrieval system.
  • Provides accurate clerical function
    • Uses Excellian (electronic medical record).
    • Understands the Enterprise Medical Imaging/Picture Archiving and Communication System.
    • Ensures all documentation is complete post procedure.
  • Works with Imaging Leadership
    • Coordinates MRI imaging protocols with the radiologist and accurately maintains them in the scanner.
    • Participates in equipment selection.
    • Procures and monitors materials inventory.
    • Coordinates new employee orientation.
    • Reports problems, issues or ideas.
    • Provides assistance, ideas and information to support the work of the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Vocational or Technical Training graduate of accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • 3+ years as a MRI technologist
Licenses/Certifications
  • Registered Technologist - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required upon hire
  • MRI certification with ARRT preferred upon hire
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
  • Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
Physical Demands
  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently
  • $7,500 Starting Bonus available for eligible external talent**
  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 8-hour day/evening shifts
  • Occasional weekends
  • Primary work location: Abbott Northwestern Hospital, with occasional work at United MHI East on department needs
Pay Range

Pay Range: $41.28 to $57.11 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
