Job summary

Ascension is seeking an MRI Technologist to operate scanners, prepare patients, and ensure high-quality diagnostic images across Ascension acute care facilities. The role includes patient education, data entry, and image transfers with strict adherence to safety guidelines.

Local and national travel options may be available to support staffing needs. Shifts range 36–40 hours per week; gross rate up to 2,888 per week, reflecting market competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Licensed MRI technologist with ARRT/MR credential and BLS
• Experience with MRI protocols, patient prep, positioning and safety procedures
• Familiarity with PACS and image transfers

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI scanners and adjust parameters to acquire high-quality diagnostic images.
• Prepare and position patients, manage scheduling and education for procedures.
• Ensure accurate data entry and transfer images to PACS with proper lead markers and patient history.
• Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and report equipment issues promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of procedure rooms and storage areas.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Operate scanners using precise anatomic and technical parameters to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
• Manage patient preparation, positioning, pre-screening, scheduling, and procedure education.
• Monitor patient data entry and manage image transfers to PACS, ensuring complete documentation, including lead markers and patient history.
• Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and report equipment malfunctions immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in procedure rooms, storage, and dressing areas.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
• Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Nuclear Medical Tech credentialed from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Radiologic Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging credentialed from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education And Work Experience

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• 1+ year of recent experience as MRI Tech.
