Job summary

Ascension in the Tulsa metro area is seeking an MRI Technologist to join the MRI Float Pool in a PRN capacity. You will operate scanners, position patients, and set imaging parameters to produce high‑quality cross‑sectional images while following radiation safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include patient pre‑screening, scheduling, data entry, PACS transfers, and maintaining equipment and department cleanliness. Licensing, ARRT/NMTCB credentials and BLS are required per policy.

Qualifications

  • BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date.
  • Credentials: NMTCB, ARRT (MRI), ARRT (Radiography) or ARDMS/Sonography as applicable.
  • ARRT MRI or NMTCB certification preferred before hire.
  • ARRT Radiography or Sonography accepted if MRI is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a MRI scanner to obtain diagnostic images.
  • Position patients and select parameters to produce cross‑sectional images.
  • Pre‑screen, schedule and educate patients for examinations.
  • Enter patient data and transfer images to PACS; ensure image quality.
  • Maintain equipment and report malfunctions; keep department clean and organized.

Location: Tulsa Metro Area and Bartlesville

Facility: Ascension St. John Medical Center and community hospitals

Department: MRI Float Pool

Schedule: PRN

Salary: Additional $8 hour on top of PRN pay

What You Will Do

Operate a scanner to obtain images used to diagnose and treat of pathologies.

  • Prepare and position patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross‑sectional images of the body.
  • Perform patient pre‑screening, scheduling, and education related to the examination.
  • Enter and monitor patient data, transfers images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency, and develops film in an automatic processor.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensurs prompt submission of high‑quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Nuclear Medical Tech credentialed from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Sonography specialty also accepted.
    • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Sonography Tech specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging credentialed from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
