Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking a Technologist Assistant to support the MRI department and patient care across the organization. The role focuses on patient identification, pre-procedure forms, and assisting with room readiness and safety protocols.

Responsibilities include IV starts under Radiologist supervision, maintaining medical records, and participating in performance improvement and customer service initiatives while ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from a medical program or courses in Medical Technology preferred.
• 1–2 years healthcare experience or Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients and assist with completion of pre-procedure forms.
• Start IV access under supervision of Radiologist and dispose of contaminated waste per policy.
• Corroborate patient history with orders and procedure and document information for licensed practitioners.
• Explain procedures to patients and monitor comfort, safety and status, escalating as needed.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Graduation from an approved Medical program or courses completed in Medical Technology

One to two years healthcare experience or Medical Assistant experience
