Job summary

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Medical Physics, or related field required; PhD preferred.
• Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
• Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board Science of Nuclear Medicine or American Board of Health Physics or other nationally recognized medical physics board certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Carries out the responsibilities and duties of the primary Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for both X-Ray Registration (Certificate of Registration/COR) and RAM licenses; serves as liaison to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
• Assists in development and evaluation of radiation safety policies, procedures and practices to minimize exposure.
• Oversees Equipment Performance Evaluations (EPE) of x-ray equipment and other imaging modalities; troubleshoot image quality issues.
• Performs dosimetry and shielding calculations to meet regulatory standards.
• Works with architects on radiation shielding and space utilization.
• Participates in quarterly medical physicist reviews and radiation safety committees; ensures compliance with regulations.
• Supports accreditations through ACR and regulatory surveys; coordinates testing of new imaging equipment.
