Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Medical Physicist for a home-based role that influences imaging processes across a large health system. You will lead CT and MRI protocol development, especially in cardiac imaging, and collaborate with vendors to evaluate emerging technologies.

You will ensure regulatory compliance, participate in safety committees, and provide guidance on equipment purchases while maintaining ALARA principles and contributing to ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field required; PhD preferred.
• Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
• Board Certification by ABR or related medical physics boards.
• Clinical experience post graduate training preferred.
• Four or more years of related experience preferred.
• Member of professional society (e.g., AAPM) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Serve as primary Radiation Safety Officer for X-Ray Registration and RAM licenses.
• Develop and evaluate radiation safety policies to minimize exposure.
• Oversee Equipment Performance Evaluations for diagnostic imaging equipment.
• Perform dosimetry calculations to meet regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with architects on radiation-safe space planning (ALARA).
• Participate in quarterly medical physicist reviews and audits.
• Investigate radiation incidents with health physicist and implement corrective actions.
• Lead Radiation Protocol and Radiation Safety Committee activities.
• Assist with ACR accreditations and regulatory inspections.
• Coordinate acceptance testing of new imaging equipment and shielding requirements.
• Ensure safe care per Memorial Hermann policies within budget and resources.
• Support professional development and mentorship within the department.
• Model Memorial Hermann service standards for safe, caring, and efficient care.
