Job summary

Big Sky Resort is seeking Kircliff Team Members to greet guests, share knowledge of Lone Peak, and assist on the mountain. You will rotate through several guest-facing roles, from greeting to information sharing, while supporting Mountain Services and lift operations.

Applicants should enjoy skiing or riding, be comfortable outdoors in varying conditions, and able to work in a fast-paced team environment on five 8-hour shifts from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Job description

Overview

Kircliff Team Members are responsible for greeting guests, supplying scuff guards to the guests visiting the Kircliff, keeping the Kircliff clean and acting as a source for mountain information! This position will spend most of their shift inside the Kircliff, on the mountain at the new and improved Lone Peak. Flexibility, excellent guest service skills, mountain knowledge, the ability to work enthusiastically in a team setting, the ability to be on your feet for hours at a time and enjoyment of the outdoors and the mountain environment are a must. We want you to be able to ride daily so that you can share your firsthand knowledge of Tram accessed terrain and enthusiasm for Big Sky with our guests. The ability and desire to ski/ride at a high level is a must. All other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Kircliff Team Members will be in continuous contact with guests, employees, and the Mountain Operations team including: Lift operations, Ski Patrol, and Lift Maintenance throughout their workday. The Mountain Services team works directly or indirectly with all other departments and divisions at the resort.


Kircliff Team Members will be located at the top of Lone Peak in the Kircliff Building. All Kircliff Team Members, will have a supervisor that will oversee all daily operations and team functions at the Kircliff.


Kircliff Team Members will rotate through a number of positions throughout the day. These positions will vary from greeter, to passing out scuff guards to guests, to sharing information about Lone Peak and surrounding mountain ranges, as well as, directing traffic in the lower and upper terminal of the Kircliff building.


Daily physical work requirements may include:


Kircliff Team Members will spend extensive amounts of time in the outdoor environment. As they will be working five, 8-hour shifts and will be present on the mountain from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Temperatures at the summit of Lone Peak can be quite cold and windy. Our team will need to be outside even in inclement weather, and inside the Kircliff which can remain cold at lower temperatures.



  • Setting up stanchions – 17 lbs. – 80%

  • Passing out scuff guards to guests – 1 lb. – 100%

  • Snow removal – Varies based on snowfall – 100%

  • Rolling and unrolling rubber mats – 60 lbs. – 100%


At Big Sky Resort, Kircliff Team Members are:



  • Responsible for meeting, greeting and assisting guests as they arrive at the Kircliff and throughout the ski day.

  • Knowledgeable about surrounding mountain ranges, ski lifts, mountain terrain, Mountain Village restaurants, amenities, shops, and activities & events to assist in guest service.

  • Familiar with the daily snow report, grooming report, and open/closed runs off the Tram.

  • Responsible for distributing and collecting scuff guard s.

  • Responsible for keeping Kircliff area clean

  • Able to complete snow removal outside of Kircliff building

  • Willing and excited to interact face to face with guests all day

  • Able to facilitate the flow of traffic through the top and bottom terminals

  • Able to answer guests' questions and solve issues promptly and politely.

  • Flexible and can rotate between different job positions throughout the day.

  • Able to ski/snowboard at a high level is a plus as the terrain the Tram accesses is geared towards advanced riders.

  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in inclement weather for extended periods of time.

  • Previous experience working in a guest service environment is a plus!

  • Must be able to ski or ride a green circle trail



Qualifications

There are high expectations for Kircliff Team members. To be successful in this position, a Kircliff Attendant must possess a high-level knowledge of surrounding mountain ranges, Big Sky Resort Mountain terrain, and general resort information. They must be able to operate independently and as a team to facilitate the amazing experiences that our guests expect while visiting the Kircliff at Big Sky Resort. They must be able to communicate effectively with each other, and throughout the Mountain Services department. The ability to problem solve, be proactive, be on their feet for hours at a time and be reliable day in and day out is also a must.


We are looking for highly skilled skiers and snowboarders, who are looking to ski the toughest terrain that Big Sky has to offer. A week of paid training at the beginning of employment will provide much of that information, but spending time off at the resort and the surrounding area is necessary to gain additional knowledge.
