Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a Motor & Generator Winder to perform winding, rewinding, insulation, connection, testing, and repair work on heavy-industrial motors, generators, armatures, rotors, and related rotating electrical equipment. The role develops through winders of increasing expertise across multiple industries and may involve field service and mentoring.

Candidates should bring electrical and mechanical aptitude, careful hand skills, and a willingness to learn specialized rewind processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Electrical and mechanical aptitude with willingness to learn rewind processes.
• Ability to read and follow winding data, drawings, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Remove windings, insulation systems, wedges, blocking, bracing, leads, and connections.
• Record winding data during teardown and repair (coil counts, turns, wire size, etc.).
• Prepare stators, rotors, armatures, fields, cores, and components for rewind or repair.
• Manufacture, install, repair, connect, tape, block, brace, varnish, bake, and inspect windings and related components.
• Perform electrical testing (megger, surge, hipot, power factor, etc.) and assist field service as needed.
• Read and interpret winding data, drawings, specifications, and repair procedures.
• Follow safety and shop procedures; maintain clean, organized work areas.
• Grow into advanced windering roles through experience and training.
