Equity Resources, Inc., a privately owned mortgage company headquartered in Newark, Ohio, is hiring an experienced mortgage underwriter. The role underwrites FNMA, FHLMC, and FHA loans, with knowledge of USDA/VA programs preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred; minimum HS diploma.
• Minimum 2 years’ DE Underwriting experience with conventional and FHA loans; USDA/VA experience a plus.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook; experience with electronic mortgage processing systems (Encompass preferred).
• Must reside in a state Equity Resources is licensed in.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pipeline daily and self-assigned preapprovals.
• Make underwriting decisions based on risk, considering Capacity, Credit, Collateral, and Cash (the 4 C’s).
• Deliver high-quality service with 24-hour turn times and timely updates to Mortgage Specialists.
• Maintain knowledge of investor overlays and FNMA, FHLMC, FHA; USDA/VA knowledge preferred.
• Analyze loan quality issues and monitor corrective actions.
• Uphold fraud prevention, confidentiality and ethical standards.
