Job summary

First American seeks an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory advice on mortgage servicing and origination, drafting contracts, policies, and product forms while advising operations teams.

You will research federal and state mortgage servicing laws, review documents for compliance, and collaborate with product, technology, and compliance teams; a law degree and US bar admission are required, with 1–3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

Law degree required and US bar admission.
Experience with residential mortgage servicing regulations, compliance and documentation.
Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate into practical documentation.
Strong research, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide timely and high‑quality legal counsel supporting mortgage servicing documentation and regulatory compliance.
Research and interpret federal/state mortgage servicing laws, regulations and investor requirements.
Review, develop and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms for accuracy and regulatory alignment.
Collaborate with operations, product, technology and compliance teams to resolve servicing documentation questions.
