Job summary

First American seeks an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory support for mortgage servicing and origination. You will draft documents, advise operations, and ensure compliance with federal/state requirements, including RESPA and TILA, while collaborating with product and compliance teams.

You will research laws, interpret evolving regulations, and help address servicing documentation questions for internal clients and regulators.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree and bar admission in the US.
1–3 years of professional experience in mortgage servicing regulations and documentation.
Experience researching and interpreting federal/state mortgage servicing laws.
Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Provide legal counsel on mortgage servicing docs, compliance, and regulatory matters.
Draft contracts, policies, and product forms with attention to regulatory risk.
Research and interpret federal/state regulations (RESPA, TILA) and investor requirements.
Collaborate with operations, product, technology, and compliance teams.
Interact with clients' legal/compliance contacts to resolve questions.
