Job summary

First American is seeking an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory guidance on mortgage servicing and origination documentation. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with federal and state mortgage laws, including RESPA and TILA, while drafting and updating servicing documents and forms.

Qualifications

  • JD required and licensed to practice law in good standing.
  • 1–3 years’ professional experience in mortgage servicing law.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage servicing regulations and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely legal support to divisions with emphasis on mortgage servicing documentation.
  • Research and interpret federal/state mortgage laws and investor requirements.
  • Review and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms for compliance.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on processes.
  • Collaborate with operations, product, tech, and compliance teams.
  • Resolve servicing documentation questions with clients' legal contacts.
  • Communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly in documentation.
