Job summary

Georgia United Credit Union in Pooler, GA seeks an experienced Mortgage Loan Origination specialist to review new loan applications, interview borrowers and process preliminary documentation.

You will discuss loan options, prepare conditional approvals, explain denials, and work with members to resolve issues. The role supports Mortgage Loan Processors and stays current on lending standards, helping promote related services across the credit union.

Qualifications

• 2 years of mortgage loan origination and processing experience.
• Knowledge of mortgage loan processing functions.
• Knowledge of mortgage related requirements, procedures and underwriting criteria.
• Solid math and calculation skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements – RESPA, HMDA, ECOA, FCRA, Flood Determination, Reg Z, Ability to Repay, Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines.
• Must meet the qualifications necessary to maintain a NMLS license and meet SAFE Act requirements.
• Computer proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet, and Email.

Responsibilities

• Participates in all steps related to the origination of mortgage loans, including reviewing new loan applications and processing preliminary documentation.
• Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates and loan documentation in a positive, professional manner.
• Prepares and issues conditional loan approvals for Borrowers and notifies members of loan approval or denial.
• Counsels members regarding money management and financial matters, especially those that were denied, offering alternatives.
• Resolves loan application problems and assists applicants with credit issues.
• Reviews information for completeness and clarity, and clarifies missing information.
• Keeps management informed of area activities and significant problems.
• Promotes other opportunities to serve members within Georgia United’s lending product suite.
