Job summary

Fifth Third Bank, N.A. in Macedonia, Ohio is seeking a Mortgage Loan Consultant to originate residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals, handling the loan process from application to closing.

Compensation is largely incentive-based and may be combined with a base salary or a draw, with total cash determined by performance. You will work within One Bank standards, maintaining risk controls and delivering a positive customer experience while meeting sales objectives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory; a four-year college degree is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proven teamwork and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with computers and common office software.
• Basic sales techniques and ability to meet goals.
• S.A.F.E. Act registration required at employment time.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal and external referral networks with realtors, builders, COIs and others.
• Learn and master all aspects of the mortgage loan originator position from application to closing.
• Follow agency and portfolio guidelines, processing, underwriting, closing, and pricing procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of policies, available loan products, processing procedures and underwriting guidelines.
• Complete required training on time and follow escalation procedures.
• Take applications by completing URLA on laptop and use technology to access rates and credit reports.
• Collect documentation and deliver loan packages within set time frames.
• Manage pipeline for all originated loans through closing and provide status updates to branches and applicants.
• Attend Mortgage and Consumer Lending sales meetings, calls and training as required.
