Job summary

Hancock Whitney in Plano, TX is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to originate portfolio loans, including conventional, FHA, VA, and RD loans, while ensuring compliance with investor requirements and all applicable laws. You will promote the Bank’s products and services to clients and community partners.

You will manage a robust pipeline, coordinate with Processors, Underwriters and Closers, and deliver accurate disclosures in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; MBA not required but helpful.
• 2 years of sales experience required.
• 2+ years of Mortgage origination experience preferred.
• NMLS registration required and compliance with SAFE Act.
• Knowledge of mortgage laws and regulations on a federal, state, and local level.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related tools.
• Excellent communication, analytical, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate with all levels of staff and maintain strong presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides expert mortgage advice to potential borrowers.
• Stays current with underwriting policy, investor guidelines, and applicable laws.
• Develops and maintains referral networks with Realtors, builders, and community contacts.
• Manages a clean loan pipeline coordinating with Processors, Underwriters, and Closers.
• Delivers all compliance documents and disclosures in a timely manner.
• Takes complete applications and collects required documentation for verification.
• Informs applicants of closing costs and coordinates closing activities.
• Interviews loan applicants to document income, debt, and credit history.
• Keeps all parties up to date on status and changes in the process.
• Ensures adherence to bank policies, federal/state laws, and industry regulations.
