Job summary

Hancock Whitney in McKinney, TX seeks a Mortgage Loan Officer to originate portfolio loans and secondary market loans (conventional, FHA, VA and RD) aligned with investor requirements and all applicable laws. You will promote Bank products and services to clients in the community.

You will provide expert mortgage advice, maintain a robust loan pipeline and coordinate with processors, underwriters and closers to ensure timely disclosures and closings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 2 years of sales experience required.
• 2+ years of Mortgage origination experience is preferred.
• NMLS registration is required (SAFE Act).
• Knowledge of mortgage laws, procedures, rules and regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Excellent communication, analytical, customer service and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
• Strong presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert mortgage advice to potential borrowers.
• Stay current with underwriting policy, investor guidelines, and laws/regulations.
• Develop and maintain referral networks with bank associates and external sources.
• Manage a clean loan pipeline in coordination with processors, underwriters and closers.
• Deliver all compliance documents and disclosures promptly.
• Take complete applications with all required documentation for verification.
• Prepare borrowers for the process and keep all parties updated on status.
• Inform applicants of closing costs and coordinate closing with involved parties.
• Interview applicants to document income, debt and credit history.
• Determine if applicants meet establishment standards for further consideration.
• Submit applications to Mortgage Loan Processor for verification.
• Contact applicants to resolve discrepancies and inform of denial/approval.
• Keep staff updated on industry changes and collaborate with other lines of business.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local banking laws (BSA).
