Job summary

FAIRWINDS Credit Union seeks a Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant to support External Mortgage Loan Officers, coordinating loan activities and guiding borrowers from application through closing.

The role starts onsite for training, onboarding, and relationship-building; after six months, hybrid or remote options may be available. You’ll collaborate with processors, title teams, appraisers, and partners to keep loans on track.

Qualifications

• Experience in mortgage lending, loan processing or loan origination support preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support borrowers through the mortgage application process and provide timely updates on loan status.
• Collect, review, and organize loan documentation to ensure complete and accurate loan files.
• Prepare disclosures and maintain accurate records within loan origination systems.
• Coordinate with processors, underwriters, title companies, appraisers, insurers, and external partners.
• Monitor loan pipelines and assist to meet closing deadlines.
• Review loan files for completeness and regulatory compliance.
• Respond to borrower inquiries and provide exceptional service throughout the lending process.
• Assist Mortgage Loan Officers in managing daily activities and production goals.
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy while handling sensitive financial information.
• Support efficient origination and closing activities through strong communication and follow-through.
