Job summary

MSGCU is seeking a Mortgage Consultant (Mortgage Loan Officer) to originate first mortgages in Michigan. You will conduct pre-qualification interviews, assemble loan packages, explain credit guidelines, and collaborate with members, real estate agents, and builders to move files toward approval.

The role requires persuasive sales, accurate financial analysis, and adherence to federal and state regulations. Expect travel between branches with a focus on growth, referrals, and excellent member

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year mortgage origination experience or 2 years mortgage banking or 3 years analytics in finance
• Associate degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, or Finance preferred
• NMLS licensure is highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Originate first mortgages and conduct pre-qualification interviews.
• Prepare loan application packages and required documentation.
• Explain policies for credit extension per MSGCU and investor guidelines.
• Meet production goals and service members, builders, and agents promptly.
• Read and apply financial information to loan files and ensure regulatory compliance.
