Job summary

Regions Bank in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to originate residential mortgage loans through our branch network. This role includes completing applications, evaluating credit, and maintaining client relationships.

The position offers a commission-based compensation structure with potential total earnings and requires NMLS registration. Prior mortgage origination experience and a HS diploma are required, with a bachelor's degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of mortgage lending experience with proven production.
• Experience developing external business through referral partners (realtors, builders, financial planners).

Responsibilities

• Completes mortgage applications for submission to loan processing and underwriting.
• Evaluates loan requests, analyzes financial data, and determines qualification of collateral and credit history.
• Maintains contact with loan customers, updating progress and collecting required documents.
• Structures loans to comply with lending practices and federal regulations.
• Develops detailed marketing plans including potential and existing customers and contact frequency.
• Handles customer calls and walk-ins to discuss loan products and qualification information.
• Makes sales calls to develop new business or retain existing business per Regions plan.
• Cross-sells other bank products and services.
• Reviews appraisals and surveys and addresses encroachments/violations.
• Participates in networking to promote loan products.
