Job summary

Ameris Bank in Virginia is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to originate and close mortgage loans, build referral networks with real estate professionals, and deliver exceptional client service.

You will maintain NMLS compliance, manage the loan process, advise customers on suitable products, and collaborate with branch managers to meet production targets.

A minimum of 1 year of mortgage experience and a high school diploma are required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience using mortgage origination applications.
• Proficiency with a contact management system.
• Knowledge of mortgage products, servicing, and market trends.
• Proven mortgage production of $5 million over the past year.
• Proven success in establishing referral relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an active Ameris Bank sponsored Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) number in compliance with the federal S.A.F.E Act requirements.
• Establish and maintain relationships with realtors, builders, developers, branches and other referral agents on an on-going basis.
• Contact potential or existing customers to develop new business or retain existing business.
• Counsel customers on products the customer is eligible to obtain ensuring the product chosen best fits their financial needs.
• Assist customers with loan applications, provide required documents and disclosures, and submit applications within required timelines.
• Oversee loan process by monitoring loan status and ensuring conformity with terms.
• Coordinate with loan processors and branch managers to keep files moving and communicate status to customers.
