Job summary

Sanderson King is seeking a hands-on Controller to build its accounting function for a fintech focused on modernising mortgage lending. You will own day-to-day accounting, manage loan-level accounting, establish policies, and lead a systems migration, with the scope to grow the team and scale finance leadership.

The role requires 7–10 years in accounting, including mortgage lending, with strong US GAAP and audit experience. CPA is advantageous and exposure to AI-driven automation is valued.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of accounting experience, incl. 3 years in mortgage lending accounting.
• Experience owning close, audit or systems implementation from start to finish.
• Strong operational accounting skills and ability to build processes in a growing business.
• Interest in AI and automation, with examples of reducing manual finance work.
• Big Four experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting (AP/AR, GL, accruals, close).
• Manage loan-level accounting from rate lock to settlement.
• Establish accounting policies and US GAAP compliance.
• Execute internal controls supporting SOC 1 Type II.
• Lead a finance systems migration and automate processes.
• Produce board/lender reporting and build the accounting team.
