Job summary

University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking a Quick Service Team Member: Cook for Abel Dining Center (6:00am-2:30pm, M-F). This role supports Dining Services, delivering made-to-order quick service and mobile ordering experiences, while maintaining food safety and quality.

You will perform both front-of-house customer service and back-of-house kitchen tasks within a fast-paced dining environment. The position is essential and may include weekend or evening shifts.

Qualifications

• High School education plus one year of experience in a work environment required; equivalency considered
• Ability to read, write, weigh and measure necessary
• Ability to communicate essential
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and push/pull up to 100lbs required
• Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain by passing the Safety and Sanitation test

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service
• Perform all back of the house kitchen duties, including ingredient and food preparation, inventory, cooking and assembling orders, setting up and closing down stations, recipe preparation, dish machine operations and cleaning
• Build orders based on established processes, procedures, guidelines and recipes
• Monitor food quality, food presentation and control food waste
• Assist within other areas as needed and other duties assigned
