Job summary

University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking a Quick Service Team Member: Cook at Abel Dining Center. This full-time role supports fast-service, made-to-order dining and relies on mobile ordering to fulfill customer requests.

You will perform back-of-house cooking tasks, assemble meals, monitor quality, and maintain station setup and cleanliness while supporting other areas as needed.

Qualifications

• High School education plus one year of experience in a work environment required; equivalency considered
• Ability to read, write, weigh and measure necessary
• Ability to communicate essential
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and push/pull up to 100lbs required
• Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain by passing the Safety and Sanitation test

The Quick Service Team Member is an key position within Dining Services. This position will work within Abel Dining Center, which is one of the quick serve made to order concepts that relies on the mobile ordering platform for orders.

As a Quick Service Team Member you will:

• Perform all back of the house kitchen duties, including ingredient and food preparation, inventory, cooking and assembling orders, setting up and closing down stations, recipe preparation, dish machine operations and cleaning
• Build orders based on established processes, procedures, guidelines and recipes
• Monitor food quality, food presentation and control food waste
• Assist within other areas as needed and other duties assigned

This position is considered essential and may have weekend or evening shifts.
