Job summary

Breakthrough Montessori PCS in Washington, DC seeks dedicated aides for the 2026-27 school year to support students in Montessori classrooms. You will assist students, help them adapt to the learning environment, and support academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth under the Special Education Coordinator and Montessori Support Specialists.

The role is 10 months, with typical hours 8:00 am–4:30 pm Monday and 8:00 am–4:00 pm Tuesday–Friday.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations of students, parents, and families.
  • Montessori experience preferred.
  • Certification in SafetyCare preferred.
  • Completion of a 40-hour online training course within the school’s timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Support up to 4 students in the resource room and up to 2 in general education.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications per IEP/504/BIP as written.
  • Monitor and document student social interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, arrivals, and dismissals.
  • Attend meetings (IEP, student support team, classroom team) and participate in professional development.
