Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Aide to support certified teachers in various classroom activities. You will work with small groups and individuals needing extra assistance, help with instruction, and manage routine tasks under supervision.

The role emphasizes academic language skills, math competence, and the ability to lift and assist students of different ages. The position requires adherence to confidentiality and professional standards in a school setting.

Competenze

• Four-year degree or two years of college or 48 semester hours or high school diploma with WorkKeys.
• Academic competency in written and spoken language and mathematical skills.
• Aptitude for work to be performed.
• Physical ability to lift and restrain students of varying ages/sizes.

Mansioni

• Perform tasks related to classroom activities under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Work with small groups to reinforce and reteach material.
• Work with individual students who need special attention.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial follow-up per teacher.
• Assist teachers with drill work, reading, and storytelling.
• Check notebooks, grade/correct papers, supervise testing/make-up work.
• Assist with instructional aids, bulletin boards, and displays.
• Assist with routine classroom clerical duties and housekeeping.
• Set up audiovisual equipment for classroom use.
• Assist with non-instructional duties (snack, breaks, toilet, clothing).
• Supervise small groups leaving for library time with librarian supervision.
• Help supervise lunch, assemblies, and field trips.
• Maintain confidentiality as required by policy.
• Maintain high ethical/professional standards for staff.
• Participate in in-service activities and paraprofessional training.
• Assist with physical management and developmental skills as needed.
• Perform any other duty as assigned.
